Design Time display of controls are not showing up in VS2013/Blend

First off, I love the controls!

When I add the ToolKit from Nuget and add any of the controls to my page, I see the bounding box, but nothing in the actual control.

I'm experiencing this with the Gauge and Chart controls.

Is there anything special I need to set up to display the controls when I get the library through Nuget?

Same here.
AnimatingContainer is not showing anything.
Squigglylines in XAML editor.
Cannot create instance of WinRTXamlToolkit.Controls.AnimatingContainer.

Hosted in a HubSection/DataTemplate/Grid.

I have the same problem. But a bit more...
In design (Blend and VS2013) I get an error could not find windows runtime type windows.ui.xaml.controls.relativesource
In my app and in the WinRT Example too.

I can compile, but of course in my app, no effect is displayed.

Any idea to solve it?

I'll see if I can fix it for the controls you report here.

I see
  • Chart
  • Gauge
  • AnimatingContainer
  • CascadingTextBlock has the problem too
To be honest I never use the design View for anything other than figuring out animations or getting default control templates and I usually create new projects for these and copy and paste the code back to my Apps, so I never tested most of these controls in the design view. I'm adding it to my todo list though. You are of course free to help fix it. You need to debug XDesProc when you open the design view to see what's causing the errors.

After spending a while trying to debug it - I can't see an obvious problem, so I'm afraid I'll have to put this problem on the back burner.

Thanks for looking into it! Still loving the tools!
